Maryville and Alcoa

Well Ron hasn't been on here yet, I'm assuming he was at the game. I watched the games on TV, Alcoa and Maryville became the only teams in TN high school football history to win 4 state titles in a row. Maryville made it 60 straight wins beating Maplewood 28-13. Alcoa beat up on Goodpasture 35-3. Knox Fulton lost to David Lipscomb 32-24, they were going for either 4 titles in 5 years or 5 in 6 years, I can't remember.

I enjoyed watching all the Tennessee state championship games...what a shame someone in Virginia don't broadcast the state gamees! Anyway, I have watched Maryville before and they were not as sharp as Rebel teams of the past. Was it that my expectations were so high, Maplewood was that tough, or Maryville, despite winning so many games and titles in a row, didn't have as dominant a team as in the past...

Anyone know who won state championships in KY this weekend?

I think out of the 4 teams that won state this years team was the weakest. The team 2 years ago was Quarles best defensive team. I would rate them like this.

The 2005 team would have shut ot this Maplewood team. 2005 team was the best Maryville defense ever. The 2006 team was great on offense. Defense was good also. Not as physical as 2005 though.2004 team was like this years team. Both teams threw it all over the park. Quarles best team ever was the 2002 team. Had they stayed healthy they would have been one of the all time juggernaughts in Tennessee.1998 team was awesome also.

I watched the Alcoa game on TV Friday night. I'd love for the VHSL to broadcast games but it'll probably never happen.

I dont know theres a lot of $$$$ in broadcasting im sure the VHSL would be all for it
